Please join me and tell the Prime Minister and the Industry Minister to say no to the Internet lockdown.

I can’t believe it’s September! I didn’t travel much this summer, just a couple of extended weekends. One trip was to Whistler, Pemberton and over the Hurley (summer only!) road to Gold Bridge, then on to Lilloet and back to Pemberton over the Duffey Lake road. I don’t recommend anyone EVER take the Hurley road under ANY circumstance!! The Duffey was much better – still not great but a vast improvement and spectacular scenery.

On the work front I launched a few new websites for clients, including SeasideRVService.com, RealFoodFast.ca and CoastDemo.com. I learned something new with each of them and got exactly the results I wanted with all of them.

Seaside RV Service will be using their WordPress blogging capabilities to post specials in their parts and accessories and will do their own updates, so I’ve added a different CMS plugin to make that easier.

ReaL FooD has two restaurants, both decorated in bright colours and using a “chalkboard” theme which we tried to emulate on the website while keeping it simple. The clients love the results!

Coast Demolition hired a colleague of mine to develop their marketing, part of which was the website. My colleague developed the marketing materials and a photoshop image of how the website should look. He did a great job, which made my job easy and kept the cost down for his client.

I’ve also reworked sites for:

ErinFreed.com which is now a WordPress site with three galleries for Erin’s paintings, decorative ceramics and functional potter;

MonkArtGallery.com which now has several additional artists added;

SwiftCoREO.com, a Houston-based real estate firm with a previous 8-year-old frame-based FrontPage site (it was AWFUL!). It’s now been optimized for search engines and changed to plain html, with a new site under development

Of course I also did innumerable updates to existing websites and galleries. All in all a very busy season.

A good part of the past three months has been spent designing and developing the new website for Roxywallhanger.com, a great gallery, gifts and souvenirs shop in Parksville. The biggest challenge lay in the need to present both an ‘art gallery’ feel and a retail site that can evolve into accepting and processing online orders and payments. It was a joy working with Roxann & Trevor, who said

“Thank you so much for all your help getting our website up to par! and beyond!
It looks great!”

I love working with such nice people!
